Minutes of the Princeton Historical Commission
September 20, 2012
Town Hall Annex, 7 PM

Attendees: Joyce Anderson, Sheila Dubman, Alex Fiandaca, Joe Lee and Matt Lindberg.
Members approved minutes from August 16, 2012 with one correction: Steeles without apostrophe.
207 Thompson Road
Sheila received a call from Kelly Stimson regarding a request for a demolition permit. Kelly and Craig would like to remove the rear ell of their house.  The ell was built without a foundation and has deteriorated significantly.  The Stimsons intend to put a new kitchen on the footprint of the ell using original Chestnut beams.  As previously discussed, members agreed that the Commission’s role in the demolition permit process should be to educate owners about the historical value of their property.  This does not apply in the case of the Stimson’s house which has always been home to the Stimson family.  Sheila has signed the demolition permit and offered the PHC as a resource to the Stimsons.
Sheila also reminded members that questions posed to the group via email (aside from that of scheduling) cannot be answered to the group because it would constitute private deliberation which is in violation of the Open Meeting law (MGL Chapter 39 sections 23A, 23B and 23C).
Four Corners
Anne Forbes submitted a draft of the Four Corners nomination which Joyce has sent to members for review.
Meetinghouse Cemetery Conservation Project
Members discussed the inmate work session to be held next Monday, September 24th and Tuesday, September 25th.   Ta Mara Conde and her husband Ricardo will guide the workers and Joe and Alex will also participate.  Alex has delivered sand and gravel and will provide snacks.  Sheila and Joyce will provide lunch.  Joe, Sheila and Alex will provide additional tools and gloves.
Mechanics Hall
Alex invited members to an upcoming Friends of Mechanics Hall event that will be held on Thursday, November 15th from 6 to 8 PM at Sonoma Restaurant to raise awareness for Mechanics Hall.
Next Meeting:
Thursday, October 18th, 7 PM in the Annex
Respectfully submitted, Alex Fiandaca
